Vice-Chancellor Commissions Faculty of Engineering Auto Diagnostic & Prognostic Centre and Webinar Room.

On Wednesday, July 8, 2020, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS, commissioned an Auto-Diagnostic & Prognostic Centre, and a well-equipped Webinar room at the Faculty of Engineering.


At the event, Dean of the Faculty, Professor Funso Falade, disclosed that the centre will facilitate teaching, research, entrepreneurship development and community service, while generating revenue for the Faculty. The Centre which he said was renamed to be the Auto Diagnostic and Prognostic Centre will also provide skills acquisition to graduates, who may wish to establish workshops after graduation in Mechanical, Systems, electrical and Electronics Engineering as opposed to seeking white collar jobs that are not readily available. The Centre, he remarked was set up with the assistance of the Managing Director of Nenis Engineering Limited, Engr. (Mrs). Oduwa Agboneni.


Similarly, the Faculty unveiled a Webinar room with conference hardware kits and Information Technology (IT) facilities for online interactions with institutions and organisations both within and outside the country for knowledge sharing, dissemination and acquisition. The Webinar room, which was furnished with the support of the 1999 ALUMNI set (UL-ESSET). The Chairman of the set who was ably represented by the Vice President, Engr. Femi Samuel said the gesture was part of their contribution to the development of the Faculty.


The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the need for innovation, research in the respective faculties while highlighting the importance of projects that have been achieved with the support of different stakeholders within private and government established agencies. He said that many projects have been commissioned and made possible with the understanding that the University cannot operate in isolation. Prof. Ogundipe thanked the 1999 (UL-ESSET) ALUMNI for the gesture while reiterating that the University belongs to them. He however, called for more support with several other projects that could further enhance the Institution status as a leading brand in Infrastructural growth coupled with the growing need to transform the scope of learning by either “picking up a project”, “picking a person” or “picking up a programme. He thanked the donor for assisting the Faculty and believing in the University dream.


Earlier, the Dean of the Faculty presented a copy of the Newsletter (special edition) to the Vice Chancellor before the distribution of copies to other stakeholders including the Faculty members. Other dignitaries present include the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic & Research, Prof. Oluwole Familoni; Chairman, UNILAG Faculty of Engineering ALUMNI Association, Engr. Dideolu Falobi; University Librarian, Dr. Yetunde Zaid; Director, Academic Affairs, Prof L.O Chukwu; amongst others.
