The Founder of Iya Moria Canteen, Alhaja Kehinde Yakubu, on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, donated three solar-powered outdoor lights to the Distance Learning Institute, University of Lagos (DLI, UNILAG).
When installed, the solar-powered lights will illuminate the road connecting DLI, International School (ISL), and Honours Hostel.
Speaking during the presentation, the Director of DLI, Professor Risikat Dauda, described Alhaja Yakubu as a giver whose philanthropic gestures have been of immense benefit to the Institute and the University at large.
Her words: “Alhaja Kehinde Yakubu has been so wonderful and helpful to the Institute and the University. Even the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, has acknowledged her corporate social responsibility activities within the University.“

I have nothing more to say other than to pray for her. As you have donated these solar lights to illuminate the DLI road, God Almighty will illuminate everything that concerns you.”
Also speaking during the presentation, Alhaja Kehinde Yakubu said the donation was part of the corporate social responsibility initiatives of her canteen.
“When you are benefiting from a system, it is incumbent upon you to give back to society. Failure to give back amounts to ingratitude of the highest order. I’m simply giving back to the University of Lagos, where I have benefited immensely from,” she said.
The brief presentation ceremony also had in attendance the Deputy Director (AP&D), Dr. Abosede Ebabhi; Deputy Director (M&C), Dr. Adenike Oladipo; Head of Department, Management Sciences, Professor Peter Olayiwola; Ag. Head, Department of Education, Dr. Omowunmi Adegun; Institute Secretary, Mr. Olabode Olanitori; and Principal Technical Officer, Maintenance, Mr. Kazeem Olawale.
