The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is inviting applications from suitably qualified scholars to fill the prestigious Prof. Ayo Ogunye Professorial Chair in Chemical Engineering.
A. DESCRIPTION
The occupier of the Prof. Ayo Ogunye Professorial Chair in Chemical Engineering shall be expected to teach and supervise existing or newly designed courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Chemical Engineering, and carry out research in any specialised field of Chemical Engineering.
He/She shall organise Research Seminars in Chemical Engineering from time to time, to stimulate and enhance Research findings in the field of Chemical Engineering.  In addition to the regular Serminars, the occupier of the Prof Ayo Ogunye Professorial Chair in Chemical Engineering must deliver a special Annual Lecture. He/ she must also deliver a Special Terminal Public Lecture on his/her accomplishment at the end of the tenure of the appointment.
B.  ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidate for the position must meet the following criteria:
- A good first degree in a relevant field and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
- Must have had extensive teaching and research experience after appointment as Senior Lecturer in a university or comparable institution.
- Candidate must be of Professorial status, exceptional Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer to be considered.
- A minimum of three (3) years as Associate Professor or six (6) years as a Senior Lecturer
- Must have record of analytical and experimental research in Chemical Engineering
- Evidence of ability to supervise Masters and Doctoral Students must be provided.
- There must be proof of continuing Research in Chemical Engineering
- Possess administrative and academic leadership skills augmented by requisite communication and interpersonal skills and must be of proven integrity. Possession of cutting-edge information technology (IT) skills will be an added advantage
The successful applicant on being appointed would be addressed as the Chair Occupier of the Prof. Ayo Ogunye Professorial Chair of Chemical Engineering.
C. REMUNERATION
An enhanced basic salary package (i.e. CONUASS 7 plus 40% mark-up and other allowances in line with the new approved professorial salaries for Federal Universities). Other perquisites include:
- Transport (official car)
- Housing allowance
- Conferences/ Lectures Allowance
D. TENURE
The Chair has a tenure of three (3) years.
