Breathe Life Foundation Donates Inhalers, Cash Support to UNILAG School of Foundation Studies

The School of Foundation Studies (SFS), University of Lagos (UNILAG), has received a donation of seventeen (17) inhalers and a cash sum of ₦100,000 from the Founder of Breathe Life Foundation, Mrs. Folasade Effiong Bassey.

Receiving the donation on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the Director of SFS, Prof. Khalid Adekoya, expressed profound appreciation to Mrs. Bassey for her generous support. He also acknowledged the pivotal role played by Mrs. Mojoyinola Adewuyi, a business consultant and parent of an SFS student, who worked closely with the Foundation to facilitate the donation.

Prof. Adekoya noted that asthma remains a significant yet often underdiagnosed condition, affecting an estimated 15 million people, many of whom may be unaware that they have the ailment. He disclosed that, in collaboration with the UNILAG Medical Centre, first-aid boxes equipped with inhalers have been strategically positioned across departments and faculties to provide immediate assistance to students who may experience asthma-related emergencies, particularly during examination periods.

In her remarks, Mrs. Folasade Effiong Bassey thanked the School for accepting the donation, which coincided with her birthday anniversary. She stated that supporting individuals with medical challenges brings her personal fulfilment, inspired by her own experiences. Mrs. Bassey also assured the University community of her Foundation’s continued commitment to health-related initiatives.

Also speaking at the brief presentation ceremony, the Deputy Director of the UNILAG Medical Centre, Dr. Afolabi Adebayo, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Bassey and the entire Breathe Life Foundation team for their thoughtful gesture in supporting students living with asthma.

Other dignitaries present at the event included the Deputy Director, SFS, Dr. Dayo Badejo; Senior Assistant Registrar, Mr. Kingsley Okhiria; Chief Accountant, SFS, Mr. Abiola Onadele; and Mrs. Mojoyinola Adewuyi.
