The Staff Training and Development Unit (ST&DU), University of Lagos (UNILAG), has launched a two-day Advancement in Digital Skills training program for its staff. The training aims to boost the Unit’s service delivery and operational impact.
Facilitated by professionals drawn from the Adetokunbo Babatunde Sofoluwe Centre for Information Technology and Systems (ABS-CITS), UNILAG, the training programme is part of efforts aimed at ensuring a tech-savvy and effectual Staff Training and Development Unit.
Speaking at the commencement of the training session, the ST&DU Director, Mrs. Aderonke Asiwaju emphasized the critical need for the training to improve the Unit’s productivity. She noted that the Unit’s digital outputs were often hampered by limited expertise to achieve the desired result.

Her words “… this training empowers our staff to master the tools and processes needed to elevate our work, ensuring we meet the Unit’s demands with greater efficiency”.

The Deputy Director, ABS-CITS, Dr. Anthony Nwohiri, who represented the Director, Professor Hakeem Amuda, at the event, stressed the need for regular training of staff in the rapidly evolving digital space.

Appreciating the leadership of ST&DU for adopting the charity begins at home adage, Dr. Nwohiri expressed confidence that “the training would be a game-changer, that will equip participants with the expertise to navigate the digital landscape effectively”.

The training, which will end on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, will offer hands-on learning in key areas such as web management, online course administration, virtual lecture facilitation, and use of technology-enhanced tools.
