The golden moment is here, as the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Doctoral Academy, a 5-day intensive training programme powered by African Engineering and Technology (AFRETEC) Network at UNILAG, is set to commence on Monday, May 26, 2025.
Following a rigorous selection process after the call for applicants was made in April, a total of 40 applicants have been carefully selected out of about 249 applications received, taking into account special considerations to ensure regional balance, institutional representation, and inclusivity. The breakdown of selected participants is as follows:
University of Lagos (UNILAG) – 15
Lagos-based Universities – 2
South-West Nigeria Universities – 10
AFRETEC Network Universities across Africa – 8
Inclusiveness and Equal Opportunity Clause – 5
Thus, from Monday, May 26, 2025 to Friday, May 30, 2025, the selected candidates will converge at the UNILAG RICE 360 Design Studio, Faculty of Science, University of Lagos from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Focused on the theme, “Empowering the Next Generation of African Research Leaders in a Digital World”, the programme is designed to equip doctoral candidates with essential leadership skills, enhance their digital capabilities, and deepen their research competencies. The essence is to ultimately strengthen the quality and impact of doctoral education in Africa.
