DESCRIPTION:The Department of Zoology\, University of Lagos (UNILAG) will host a Lying-In-State Programme for retired Professor William Ose Odiete\, as part of his funeral ceremony following his demise on Saturday\, October 4\, 2025\, at the age of 86. \nThe event will hold as follows:\nDate: Thursday\, January 8\, 2026 Time: 8:30 am\nVenue: Faculty of Science Foyer\, UNILAG Main Campus\, Akoka\, Lagos. \nFollowing the lying in state is a Commendation /Requiem Mass at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church\, UNILAG Akoka Campus at *12 noon prompt*. \nBorn on July 6\, 1939\, Professor William Ose Odiete joined the services of the University of Lagos as Lecturer II in 1969. He had a successful career in the Department of Zoology\, UNILAG until his retirement in July\, 2005. \nOn behalf of the entire University community\, the Vice-Chancellor\, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola\, OON\, FAS\, commiserates with the family of the late Iroro of Okpe Kingdom and prays for the repose of his soul.

Ade–Ajayi (Main) Auditorium\, UNILAG. \n\n\n\nWith the theme\, “Industry and Academia: Understanding the Past to Improve the Future Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Engagement\,” the lecture will bring together distinguished leaders from academia\, government and industry to explore practical pathways for strengthening collaboration\, driving innovation and advancing sustainable national development. \n\n\n\nThe event will feature the Executive Secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund\, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Shinkafi\, as the Keynote Speaker as well as other discussants drawn from leading organisations across the public and private sectors. \n\n\n\nMembers of the University community and general public are cordially invited.
