UNILAG Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences Hosts Seminar on Artificial Blood & Oxygen Carriers, Apr. 22

The Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Lagos, cordially invites members of the University Community and the interested public to its upcoming Faculty Seminar Series, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 12:00 noon via Zoom.

The seminar, themed “Artificial Blood and Haemoglobin-Based Oxygen Carriers (HBOCs): Are We There Yet?”, will explore current scientific advancements and ongoing debates surrounding the development of artificial blood substitutes and haemoglobin-based oxygen carriers as viable clinical alternatives.

Speaker: Prof. Alani S. Sulaiman, MD, FMCPath, FAMeds

Host: Prof. F.O. Olowoselu ( Head, Department of Haematology and Blood Transfusion)

Chief Host: Prof. F.B. Abdulkareem (Dean, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences)

The seminar will stimulate rich academic discourse among faculty members, clinicians, researchers, and postgraduate students, particularly in the areas of Haematology, Transfusion Medicine, and Translational Biomedical Research.
