The attention of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Management has been drawn to reports on the alleged contamination of the campus water supply within some halls of residence.
We wish to assure all students, staff, and members of the campus community that the matter is being treated with utmost urgency and seriousness.
Relevant departments have commenced a thorough assessment of the water supply system, including necessary water quality tests, to determine the accuracy of the reports and identify any potential risks. Also, immediate interventions have been put in place to ensure that the welfare, health, and safety of all students are adequately protected.
We urge members of the campus community to refrain from spreading unverified information that may cause unnecessary panic. Official updates and directives regarding the situation will be communicated through the institution’s approved channels as soon as the assessment is concluded.
The University Management remains committed to providing a safe and conducive environment for learning and will take all necessary actions required to address any issues identified.
