The Management of University of Lagos (UNILAG) has honoured its Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and Research), Professor Bola Oboh, in recognition of the successful completion of her tenure in office.
The event, held on Monday, March 23, 2026 at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, brought together members of the University Management, who paid glowing tributes to Professor Oboh’s exemplary service and leadership.
In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, expressed deep appreciation and a sense of nostalgia, describing Professor Oboh as a courageous, principled, and compassionate leader whose contributions have left a lasting impact on the institution.
She noted that beyond successfully completing her tenure, Professor Oboh earned and sustained the respect and goodwill of colleagues and staff through her unwavering dedication and professionalism.
Her words, “We will miss you. The bottom line is that when I write my memoir, everyone at this table will be captured, but more importantly, Professor Oboh will be remembered as one who continued to push me even when I was tired.”
Members of the University Management also commended Professor Oboh for her vision, diligence, and commitment to advancing the University’s academic and research mandate, while upholding high standards of governance and professionalism.
In her response, Professor Oboh expressed gratitude to God, and the University Management for their support, trust, and cooperation throughout her tenure. She acknowledged the collective efforts of the University community in achieving significant milestones in administration and institutional development.
Professor Oboh, who assumed office on March 28, 2022, is set to conclude her four-year tenure on March 27, 2026. Her time in office has been marked by a strong commitment to excellence, collaborative leadership, and sustained institutional growth.
