Notice on Submission of Documents for Implementation of Exit Benefit Scheme

Important Notice - Maroon

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has directed that all employees with a minimum of ten (10) years of service at the time of exit, effective January 1, 2026, are entitled to receive an Exit Benefit (Gratuity).

In view of the above, staff in the categories listed in Table A should submit the documents listed in Table B to the Pension and Retirement Unit, Room 265, 2nd Floor, Senate House, University of Lagos (UNILAG) on or before Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

TABLE A:

  1. All staff who disengaged from the service between January 1, 2026 and June 30, 2026.
  2. All prospective retirees between July 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026.

Please note that this covers all modes of disengagement including:

  1. Statutory Retirement
  2. Voluntary Retirement
  3. Withdrawal of Service
  4. Termination of Appointment
  5. Death

TABLE B (documents required for the processing of the Exit Benefit):

  1. Letter of First Appointment
  2. Last three (3) months’ payslips (Staff due to retire from June to December 2026 should submit their March, April, and May payslips for registration purposes).
  3. Birth Certificate
  4. Letter of retirement for those that have retired
  5. PFA welcome page (for Pin Number and Name of PFA)

The Human Resource Management Directorate therefore urges all affected members of staff to comply with this directive promptly, as failure to do so may adversely affect the processing of their Exit Benefit entitlements (gratuity).
